Literature Text

Elizabeth took a deep breath and prepared for another attack. Her opponent was strong. Stronger, than she ever expected. And definetly stronger than she was. Although that, she was not giving up that easly. Strike, after strike, holding her sword steadly. She took a step back, but didn't notice that she exposed her side to the enemy. It was the biggest mistake she made. And her enemy knew that. He drew a dagger from the other side of his belt, and stroke furiously, cutting Elizabeth's uniform and delicate skin until the scarlet blood started to run quickly, making her uniform red. She covered it with her hand, yelling with pain. "No mercy." It was the quote all Ottoman soldiers repeated. Sadiq hit Hungary with all his power so she fell backwards and landed hard on the ground. Then, the man did his final strike.

Right into the heart of the blood-covered Elizabeth.

- Lengyel lovasságot!! - shouted Hungarian soldiers, who were gathered around Elizabeth. Feliks, leading a huge cavalery, was heading towards them. When some Turks blocked the way, Poles shred them away with rage. Although Feliks wasn't able to defeat all the Turks, at least he could help Hungary, his best friend. Like he always did. He bent down, touching Elizabeth's cheek with the back of his hand. Cold. Cold, as if she was...
- Poruczniku! Nosze! - shouted Feliks. One of his soldiers saluted obediently and brought a simple stretcher, which he then put in front of the woman, who was lying down without any signs of life. Then, two other Polish soldiers gently rose her up and put her on the stretcher.
- Hová mész? - asked the Hungarian soldier.
- Do Polski. Nie martw się, bracie - Pole put his hand on the man's arm. - Będzie ze mną bezpieczna.
Hungarian soldier nodded. Feliks walked away with his soldiers, taking the stretcher with them. After few minutes, they were gone.

Poland was right. The only safe place for Hungary now, was Poland. They knew he will take care of her. And so he did.

***
A ray of sun sliped by the open window, then went towards the beautiful face of a woman, who was lying down on a bed. She opened her big, shining, green eyes and felt that someone holds her hand. She turned her her head and saw Poland, sitting by her side with a glance full of worry. It took almost half of year for her to recover. Poland's  doctors took care of her during that period - and of course Feliks, who was helping her to get better every day. And everything he did, was becouse of his feelings towards her, although he never told her.
Suddenly, Elizabeth sat on the bed, looking around. Sure she didn't remember a thing about the war, and that she almost died...
- Elizabeth! You're ALIVE! - he yelled happily. Yes, she was alive, full of joy and energy. Poland threw himself at the woman, hugging her tightly. So tightly, that they fell on the bed. They both laughed, and Poland finally sat properly.
- What happened? Why am I here? - asked Hungary, obviously looking confused.
- Oh, that's like a really long story. You were attacked by Turkey. My general told me not to help you, but I didn't listen. But... I couldn't help you, it was too late. All I could do is bring you there till you recover... I mean, I couldn't just leave you like this, you know... - he didn't finish, becouse he felt Hungary's soft lips on his cheek. He blushed. It made him have that weird, warm feeling in his heart...
- Thank you, Feliks. I could have died if you didn't help me. Oh, how can I thank you back? I will do whatever you wish! - said Hungary, looking deep into his eyes. Poland blushed again and looked at the ground.
- Um, it's almost Christmas... And I had a fight with Toris... He went back to Lithuania... I don't want to be alone on Christmas, so if you... If you'd want to come... - said Feliks, nervously trying to make sense. Hungary laughed.
- Of course, no problem! I will be delighted to spend Christmas with you! - said Elizabeth. Then she ran out of the room, to - everybody knows where... kitchen. Feliks covered himself in feather quilt and smiled to himself. He got his first kiss from Hungary!

***

It was the Christmas Day. Poland's house was all covered in snow. Feliks was trying to make his way through the doorway. He opened the door again, shaking the icicles off. But when he did that, a huge snowbank fell on him, knocking him off and filling his mouth with ice-cold snow.
- Kurwa! - he cursed to himself, trying to stand up straight. Then he heard someone calling him
- Feliiiiiks!! - shouted Elizabeth, who was running like mad towards him, with two enormous bags with her, filled with ornaments and presents.
And then she slipped right before him, falling down. Feliks landed on the soft snow, with Elizabeth in a... quite awkward position on him. She blushed, then quickly stood up and helped Feliks.
- Sajnálat, dear Feliks! This way was so slippy... No wonder everyone who passes by falls! - she laughed. Feliks smiled and opened the door.
- There, come in. Anyway, happy christmas, Elizabeth. It is a pleasure for me to have you here. - he gave her a hand by the doorstep with a gentlemen smile.
- Thank you. I see you already dressed up the christmas tree! But these ornaments can't waste, and we have to have some Hungarian cuisine too! No, no problem at all! But we have looots of work here dear Feliks, I can tell!

***

Finally, after three hours of intensive cooking, cleaning up and preparations for the christmas eve, Feliks and Elizabeth sat on the leather sofa by the fireplace. The christmas eve was so about to come.
- Shall we go on my balcony and look for the first star to appear? - suggested Poland, and Hungary agreed. Off they went to the second floor, where a beautiful balcony was situated by Feliks' room. It was made of white marble, curved in different ways. Underneath the balcony guarantee, there was curved a big, white eagle, in a pose like he was about to fly away.

Poland pointed at the sky - a falling star!
- Say your wish, that's the only chance! - said Feliks, smiling. Elizabeth turned around and placed her hand on his shoulders, looking deeply into his eyes. Poland couldn't turn his glance; he was stunned by the beauty of her emerald eyes, which shined more that a hundred stars.

- My wish, dear Poland, is to be with you... - she said quietly. Poland smiled slowly. Finally, she reciprocated his feelings... Finally, he could tell her the sentance he never had courage to say...

- I love you, Elizabeth... - answered Feliks and pulled her and hugged tightly, as if he didn't want to let her go. In silent they kissed, and it was the sweetest kiss in their lifes; kiss of the nations that loved each other so much that they could die for the other's happiness.

And it was the happiest Christmas in their lives...
